Downward Goat! Hmm… What are your first thoughts when you read this position?
Probably Yoga with goats and you will be absolutely right. I thought maybe baby goats, but I was wrong. It was mainly large goats. Apparently, they have a separate class with little goats.
Farm lives changed forever, along with people that are participating. You go on their site and you can see “A-Team”, each goat has a name and a character that described, you get to meet them, interact with them.
Saturday or Sunday pick the day as early as 8:30 am and 10:00 am at the latest. Southwest Ranches, Florida, a little way away, but is a great place to be closer to animals and nature.
It took me approximately an hour to travel from Fort Lauderdale to Southwest Ranches. I am always up early, but it takes me a while to wake up completely. A little excitement to see and snuggle animals kept me awake and cautious on the road.
When I arrived, I just couldn’t wait for my friend to get out of the vehicle and I was rushing her: “Come on… Come on… we don’t want to be late, goats are out there, I see the goats…”
We walked towards a couple of tents to sign up and just looked around the farm: beautiful fresh wet grass, morning dew covering the fields, birds chirping, the sun is rising higher and higher, however, the trees around us provide some shadow.
The instructor guides everyone to place their mats, warning what might happen. Reminding us that we might get stepped on by our friendly goats, and other minor things in life that might occur. I would not recommend bringing your mat (rent it for $5).
It’s 10 o’clock, light mellow music fills the air and blends in with other farm noises: animals, birds. Goats are passing through and checking us out, smelling your hair, or bumping into you. We start to exercise with breathing and I see this goat marching towards me and nudge against me and want to be petted. I stopped following the instructor’s guidance to interact with the goat. Omg, their eyes are so weird! Have you ever stared in goats’ eyes? For me, it wasn’t clear whether it liked me or not. It seems liked it did.
We could follow instructions and practice with a little interruption, but overall it was a great combination of fresh air, down to earth experience, emotions are incredible, no other thoughts but 100% presence.
