Pompano Beach – “Our mats are perfect for the beach, the pool and exercise facilities,” says Livas Yoga Mats founder Nadia Shaver.

“We create all our own designs and use only the highest quality materials in their fabrication.”

Founded in 2018, the company has endeavored to create the perfect yoga mat. This version is not only larger and lighter but also absorbs sweat, repels sand, is pet resistant, machine washable and easy to transport.

“We use suede microfiber pressed with natural rubber,” says Shaver. “It is eco-friendly, biodegradable and recyclable.”

Shaver uses her mats as canvasses for her artistic inspirations.

“I am very passionate about animals and nature. There is a lot of symbolism behind my characters. My Pelican Mat reminds us to take time for reflection while my Mermaids reveal themselves to people of pure heart.”

She goes on to add that “there is a strong spiritual component that encourages individuals to find what will help them at a specific moment in their lives. I want to be part of that journey.”

A dedicated yoga aficionado, Shaver saw a need to bring a new perspective to the traditional, monochromatic yoga mat.

She subsequently travelled the country to enjoy various yoga experiences.

“I did yoga events with goats, horses, flamingos and even llamas,” says Shaver. “And of course, I always enjoy yoga by moonlight on Fort Lauderdale beach. These outings confirmed that I was on the right track in my creative process.”

The representations on the mats often feature “poses that seem alive and are designed to motivate and inspire.”

Shaver also points out that the mats make ideal gifts for anyone who has a yoga devotee in their midst.

Regular, full thickness mats start at $70 while the travel versions begin at $40. Visit livasyogamats.com for more information.
